Even in the heat of Las Vegas, we encourage all of our residential customers to schedule a fall inspection and tune-up for their heating system. This regular maintenance is essential if you want your heat pump (or furnace) to work for as many years as possible, run into a limited number of repair problems, continue to function reliably, and keep your power bills under control. The heater won’t lay dormant the whole winter, so make sure that it’s ready to go when it needs to.

Las Vegas enjoys mild winters, with the coldest nights only dropping down into the 40s. The heating system in your home won’t need to run constantly during this time of year, but it can still raise your energy bills higher than necessary if you aren’t careful.
To avoid paying more for your home heating than you should this winter, there are a number of steps you can take. We’re here to help you whenever you need assistance with improving your residential heating.

Have you noticed any of the following recently when your AC (or heater) is running?
- Strange rattling sounds coming from the vents.
- Musty or moldy smells in the rooms.
- Hot or cold spots in the house where you don’t expect them.
- A rise in utility bills that doesn’t correspond to an increase in cooling or heating use.
All of these signs can point toward damage in the air ducts that’s allowing air to escape from them. This is a common trouble with residential ventilation systems that can easily escape people’s notice. Although there are other possibilities for these symptoms, you should contact HVAC specialists and have the ductwork tested to make sure. If you have leaky ducts, professional duct sealing will solve the problem.

Las Vegas isn’t known for its cold snaps. Right now we’re going through “cooler” weather, which means an average high in the low 80s. In the middle of winter, the night time temperatures will drop to levels where many homes will need heating assistance—but it’s still about as mild a winter as you’ll find in the continental U.S. What’s the best way to heat your home in this area?

When you see the word “heating” in a post right now, you’ll probably think that we’ve lost our minds. Yes, it’s a bit cooler right now in Las Vegas—meaning temperatures are now in the high 80s at their peak, and maybe dipping into the high 60s at night—but that’s still nothing that requires using a heating system for comfort.
However, October is the time of the year when we start advising our customers to arrange for annual maintenance for their heating systems. During the winter, Vegas will start to experience some cold nights when the temperature drops into the low 40s. That may sound like tropical vacation to a person who lives in Minnesota, but it is still cold enough that your house will need to have its heating system running. You want to make sure that your home’s heater will run, and will run without wasting power.

People who live in Las Vegas know that the start of the fall doesn’t mean an escape from summer heat. Often, temperatures spike during the end of September and beginning of October, and that means a last extremely rough period for air conditioning systems before the (somewhat) cooler weather starts. We have some tips on coping with the heat at this time of year to make your hard-working air conditioner’s job a bit easier.

The heat is with us all during the year in Nevada, and air conditioners handle around three times the amount of work that they do in most other parts of the country. A good portion of your energy budget during the year goes to running your home’s AC. So you will be glad to know that NV Energy offers a number of rebates for air conditioning services that can help you out with those electrical bills as you tune-up your air conditioner or replace it with one that consumes less energy.

In the Las Vegas Valley, air conditioners are probably the most important appliance for any home or business. If you don’t pay occasional attention to the AC that cools off your home, you may end up in a miserable situation when the system dies on you. You’ll be in a tight jam trying to either repair or replace a busted AC when so many other air conditioners in other homes are also in the same situation, and their owners are also calling for emergency fixes.

In Las Vegas, we really never stop thinking about our air conditioning systems. Even in the “depths” of winter, we often leave our cooling systems running during the day. If you’re thinking that you would like some better performance from your AC, but it isn’t yet time to replace it, there are some ways that you can upgrade it. Below are 3 air conditioning upgrades that we can provide for your air conditioning system this fall.

In many other parts of the country, September is the month when people start to make plans for cooler weather and schedule routine services for their heating systems. But in Las Vegas, September is really just another month of summer—and sometimes it’s even hotter than the actual summer! We can expect temperatures in the 90s and sometimes the 100s for the whole month. That means that our air conditioners still require special attention, including scheduling prompt repairs whenever anything is wrong with one.
